Rolling Vineyards and Cypress Hills
Yoga in Chianti
The quintessential Tuscan landscape of vineyards, olive groves, and stone villages, spread across the hills between Florence and Siena.
Chianti is the Tuscany of the imagination: corduroy rows of vineyards, silver-green olive groves, and honey-coloured stone villages spread across hills that roll all the way from Florence to Siena.
The heart of the area is Chianti Classico, the historic wine zone marked by the black rooster seal. Villages like Greve, Castellina, Radda, and Gaiole sit among the vines, each with its own market square, wine shops, and unhurried rhythm.
Beyond the wine, Chianti rewards anyone who wanders: medieval parish churches, Renaissance villas, white-gravel roads lined with cypress, and trattorias serving ribollita, pici, and bistecca. It is walking and cycling country as much as driving country.
For a wedding or a quiet morning practice, Chianti offers something the coast cannot: stillness, long views, and a landscape that seems built for slowing down. Yoga on a vineyard terrace here, with the hills folding away in every direction, is hard to better.
Food & Wine
Chianti is, of course, wine country. Chianti Classico DOCG, built on the Sangiovese grape, ranges from bright and easy-drinking to deep and age-worthy. As a certified AIS sommelier, I can pair your yoga session with a guided tasting of handpicked wines, chosen to show the range. Don't miss the local olive oil, pecorino, and a bowl of ribollita.
