Home / Siena

A medieval city in warm brick, fanning out from the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, ringed by some of Tuscany's most beautiful hills.

Siena feels barely touched by time. Its medieval centre, built in the warm brick whose colour took the city's name, fans out from the Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped square where the Palio horse race is run twice each summer.

The black-and-white striped Duomo is one of Italy's great cathedrals, and the narrow lanes of the three terzi reward wandering with no fixed plan. The hills around the city, towards the Crete Senesi and Chianti, are among the most photographed in Tuscany.

Siena is under two hours from my base near Pisa, so it suits a planned session or a small group while you are staying in the city or the countryside nearby.

Practising yoga here

I'm based near Pisa and travel to Siena, under two hours away, for yoga in Siena. A practice on a terrace or in a garden with the hills in view is a good way to start the day here, or to unwind after the climbs of the old town.

I teach private one-to-one classes built around what you need, and for groups and celebrations the yoga and wine experience adds a sommelier-led tasting. Tell me your dates and where you're staying and we'll find a time.

Food & Wine

Sienese tables run to pici pasta, pappardelle with wild boar, and the almond sweets ricciarelli and panforte. This is Chianti and Brunello country, so the wine list is rarely the weak point.
