Sandy beach and pine groves on the Tuscan coast

Sea, Pine Groves, and Long Sandy Beaches

Yoga in Tuscan Coast

Home / Tuscan Coast

Tuscany's western shore, from the Versilia beaches down to the Etruscan Coast, with pine groves, sea air, and wide sandy beaches.

The Tuscan coast runs the length of the region's western edge, from the marble-backed beaches of Versilia in the north, past the pine groves and river mouths near Pisa, down to the Etruscan Coast and the wine country behind Bolgheri.

It is a different Tuscany from the hills: flatter, breezier, with long sandy beaches, seafront promenades, and that particular light that comes off the water in the late afternoon. Towns like Viareggio, Marina di Pisa, and Castiglioncello each have their own character, from Liberty-era elegance to quiet pine-shaded coves.

For a hen party or a celebration, the coast offers an easy, open setting: practise yoga with the sound of the sea nearby, then move into a tasting as the day softens. It pairs especially well with groups staying in a beach villa, or splitting their week between the hills and the shore.

Sea air, space to breathe, and a slower pace make the Tuscan coast a natural place to gather and unwind.

Food & Wine

The coast is seafood country: fritto misto, spaghetti allo scoglio, and the famous fish stew cacciucco from Livorno. The whites of the coastal hills, and the celebrated reds of Bolgheri just inland, round out the table. As a certified AIS sommelier, I can pair your session with a guided tasting to match.
