The Cradle of the Renaissance

Home / Florence

The city of the Renaissance, where the Duomo, the great galleries and the Arno reward those who slow down and stay a while.

Florence is the city of the Renaissance, and it rewards slow attention. Most visitors rush between the Uffizi, the Accademia and the Duomo in a day. Stay longer and the city opens up: quiet cloisters, the workshops of the Oltrarno across the river, and gardens that look back over the rooftops.

The Duomo, crowned by Brunelleschi's dome, still sets the skyline. Climb to Piazzale Michelangelo or up into the Boboli and Bardini gardens for the view that puts the whole city in front of you. Early morning, before the crowds arrive, is the best time to be out.

Florence is about an hour from my base near Pisa, so it is an easy place for me to come to you for a practice while you are staying in or around the city.

Practising yoga here

I'm based near Pisa and travel to Florence, about an hour away, for yoga in Florence. That might be a morning practice in a garden or on a rooftop terrace above the city, or a quiet session at your apartment or hotel before a day in the galleries.

Most people here book private one-to-one classes shaped around their level, and for a group or a celebration the yoga and wine experience pairs a practice with a sommelier-led Tuscan tasting. Tell me your dates and where you're staying and I'll come to you.

Food & Wine

Florentine cooking is hearty: bistecca alla fiorentina, ribollita, and crostini di fegatini. The hills just south run into Chianti Classico, so a good red is never far away.
