Home / Arezzo

An elegant city in eastern Tuscany, off the busiest routes, with Piero della Francesca frescoes and a famous monthly antiques fair.

Arezzo sits in eastern Tuscany, away from the busiest tourist routes, which is part of its appeal. Piero della Francesca's fresco cycle The Legend of the True Cross, in the Basilica of San Francesco, is reason enough to come.

The sloping Piazza Grande, lined with medieval and Renaissance buildings, fills with stalls on the first weekend of each month for one of Italy's best-known antiques fairs. The upper town, around the Duomo and the Medici fortress, is calm and green.

Arezzo is about two hours from my base near Pisa, so a session here works best as a planned visit while you are staying in the town or the Casentino countryside around it.

Practising yoga here

I'm based near Pisa and travel to Arezzo, about two hours away, for yoga in Arezzo. With the town's quieter pace, a morning practice in a garden or on a terrace fits the place well, whether you live here part of the year or are visiting.

I teach private one-to-one classes shaped around your level, and for a group the yoga and wine experience adds a sommelier-led Tuscan tasting. Tell me your dates and where you're based and I'll come to you.

Food & Wine

Aretine cooking is rooted in the land: acquacotta soup, grilled meats, and pecorino from the surrounding hills. The wines of the Colli Aretini, part of the wider Chianti family, pair easily with all of it.
